Vivienne Westwood is one of the most seminal, iconic  designers of our time. That said, she has chosen to do something great by using her celebrity status to advocate for and fight climate change in an effort to save the planet. You have to wonder, If we don’t than who will?

The Spring-Summer 2016 campaign ‘Mirror the World’ is about saving Venice, Italy from being swallowed by the sea. As science and research prevails, not only is climate change flooding one of the most romantic, historic cities in the world, but mass tourism on cruise ships is wreaking havoc on the lagoon - an issue that can be halted.
The campaign was shot in alley ways, canals, shipyards and palazzos throughout the city, highlighting the beauty and decay of Venice in effort to shed light on the urgency to take action::

“The scientist Contessa Jane da Mosto has been campaigning to save Venice. In 1966 there was a terrible flood and since then people have been analysing the problem and proposing solutions. The lagoon is one of the most wonderful wetlands in the world: exquisite symbiosis between the animals and plants that stabalise the sediment from the freshwater rivers and Venice itself which has grown with the lagoon. If Venice were not there the wetlands would have become either land or a bay – the sea having swept away the sediment. The biggest problem now seems to be the cruise ships which tear up the lagoon. It’s a total false economy to allow them. The Contessa says that Venice is ‘the canary in the mine’.If we can’t save Venice, how do we save the world?”
